After review, it has been identified that the Town of Lockeport is facing serious budgetary constraints that requires us to make necessary reductions within our staffing operational model. Due to the required restructuring we regret to inform you that the Lockeport Community Coordinator position will be abolished, effective immediately.

It is important that you are aware that this decision was made after full and careful consideration.

Undoubtedly, this decision will have an impact on how weekly, monthly and annual social events and celebrations function for all ages within the community. The way we have been conducting business cannot be financially sustained in a community with a declining population. That is the reality we are faced with.

The Town is committed to assisting the community through this transitional period. All committees will remain intact and continue to be the advisory and liaison between council and residents. The Town will remain focused on budgetary issues, core services and infrastructure while shifting community programing and event facilitation back to a community-based model were the residents will have the opportunity to identify, establish and run social events based on the community’s interests.

On behalf of the Town of Lockeport we wish to express our sincere gratitude to Ms. Frances Scott for her contribution during her time as Community Coordinator. Her dedication and hard work have had a meaningful impact, and we are truly grateful. We wish her all the best in her future endeavours.
