play park update

The Seacaps Park Playground project is officially moving forward, and we’re thrilled to share a community update.

After months of behind-the-scenes work, the tender for the new playground is now live on the Town’s website, click here to view, and closes July 24, 2025. We have already received strong interest, and we’re expecting multiple bids. If all goes to plan, we’ll begin site work sometime in the fall, and we are excited to see the vision begin to take shape. The new playground will be a safe, inclusive, and vibrant intergenerational space designed with care, and guided by a community needs assessment and resident feedback.

We’re also proud to confirm that the Province of Nova Scotia has confirmed with us the status of the Recreation Facility Development Grant, and we look forward to mutually sharing more details with everyone. This funding is a major investment in our town’s future, and we’re deeply grateful to the Province for their support.

The incredible work of our local fundraising committee has been the heartbeat of this project. This dedicated group of volunteers has organized events, secured sponsorships, and launched the “Under the Sea” mural campaign — raising over $33,000 so far through their creative and tireless efforts. The “Under the Sea” mural project continues, with sea creatures available starting at just $25. Every donation counts, and every name on that mural helps bring this legacy project to life. Thank you to everyone who’s donated, organized, volunteered, or simply cheered this along.

Please be tadvised that the Town of Lockeport intends to adopt the attached Regional Emergency Management By-Law.  First Reading was done on July 11, 2025.  Second Reading will take place on August 8, 2025. See the attached .pdf for the full document
